Working trials have begun for the Little Ripper Lifesaver UAV since February 2016. Aero Motion Australia has been involved with this project since its inception in 2015. Using the Pulse Aerospace Vapour 55 unmanned helicopter and UAV Vision CM100 Camera the project has been successfully gaining momentum and the financial support form NSW State Government and Westpac Bank. Test flights conducted along the Lake Macquarie coast near Newcastle have been the proving ground for operations conditions in VFR. Shark sightings and swimmers in distress are the main areas of operations for the Little Ripper controllers. A first responder fitted with a release mechanism fitted with a flotation device, Defibrillator, and electronic shark repellant as well as FPV cameras, EO, IR and Thermal imaging cameras enable the aircraft to be autonomously flown. Trials continue along the NSW North Coast and the second round of training for pilots is planned in the coming months.
